The house is situated in the popular hillside town of Vélez Blanco with spectacular views across the National Park and mountains. It is approx. 40 minutes drive to the coast and 2 hours drive from the airports of Granada, Alicante, Murcia and Almeria. The larger town of Velez Rubio is 4 miles away and the beautiful town of Maria is 5 miles away. Vélez Blanco and its neighbouring towns have many facilities including schools, doctors, dentists, theatres, churches, swimming pools, convents, libraries, restaurants, bars, etc.

Vélez Blanco is well known for its magnificent mediaeval castle (the original patio of which can be found in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.)The house is situated in the oldest (Moorish) part of the town at 250 metres from the castle.

The house is 30 metres from an ancient Shrine with a Latin inscription. Also, Vélez Blanco is well known for its excellent, free water fountains. We have such a fountain 100 metres from the house and collect all of our drinking water from it.

There is a cave at the entrance to the town in which was discovered the famous 5000 year old painting of a man with his arms held high – the Indalo Man !
